There is no agency playbook

The idea that there’s a single “right” way to build and run an agency is deeply ingrained – and deeply unhelpful.

While agencies often face similar challenges, no two are operating under the same conditions. Founders bring different goals, levels of capacity, personal priorities, and definitions of success. Treating them as interchangeable only leads to misalignment and frustration.

That’s why rigid frameworks rarely work.

Effective agency support needs to be flexible – shaped around the specific context of the business and the person running it. Structure and process still matter, but they should provide guidance, not constraints.

What works for one agency won’t always work for another. Even strategies that proved successful elsewhere may not translate in a different environment, with different people and pressures.

The strongest agencies aren’t built by following a generic rulebook. They’re built by asking the right questions, making intentional decisions, and designing a model that fits the founder as much as the business.

So it’s worth saying clearly:

There is no agency playbook.
