Putting all your eggs in one basket when it comes to niching can be a little overwhelming, but there’s plenty of ways to test the market before you go all in.
Micro-campaigns are the best way to do this.
If it’s a niche you already have some experience in, you’ll want to create a ‘proof bank’. Think case studies, testimonials, blogs – anything that proves your understanding of the sector / service and why you are credible to service it.
You can then create micro campaigns directly to that audience, for example:
- Set up a dedicated landing page with some ad spend behind it.
- Create a creds doc and look at booking 1-2-1’s with your existing network – ask for referrals
If your proof bank is lacking, then you’ve got a little more work to do.
I don’t advocate doing work for free, but is there another way you can gain the experience you need – for example a service trade?
Or how about creating content that would be of value to your niche, a research piece or report? Or check out Daniel Priestley Scorecard Marketing process for a great example of building a waitlist and testing the market.
